Man City fired warning over Newcastle clash as Arsenal wait to pounce

City host the Magpies in Saturday’s early kick-off and can close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal back to two points with a win.

Newcastle head to the Etihad Stadium having lost 2-0 to Manchester United in their first Wembley trip for 24 years last weekend.

But Magpies boss Eddie Howe says the pain of that defeat has only added further fuel to his side’s bid to qualify for the Champions League.

“We were bruised on Sunday and Monday, but very quickly for me I think on Monday afternoon it turned to Manchester City,” he said.

“I didn’t think the passion and the motivation within me could increase but I think it has. We experienced a great occasion to see the Newcastle supporters, the colours, the visions and memories that we’ll take from that.

“The passion they showed, the love they showed to the team in all moments, will stay with me and I think we want to return that and give them future successes, and that burns deeply inside of me.”
