Sheffield United’s return to the Championship after last season’s relegation from the Premier League hasn’t quite gone completely to plan in the early stages of the new campaign, with Chris Wilder’s side unable to hit the ground running.
The Blades head into this weekend’s clash against Watford winless in their last three matches in all competitions, having started the season with a 2-0 win at Preston, the club have since drawn back-to-back league games against QPR and Norwich.
A 2-0 lead at home against the west London side was given up with the Yorkshire side having to settle for a point, which leaves the Blades currently 11th in the table, albeit having started the season on -2 points due to defaulting on payments to other clubs over the last two seasons.
Tuesday night saw Sheffield United fall to their first defeat of the season, as the Blades were on the receiving end of a cup upset in the second round of the EFL Cup, losing 1-0 to League One side Barnsley in a Yorkshire derby, which they will be desperate to recover from this weekend.

Watford are the only Championship side still with a 100% winning record in tact in all competitions following their 2-0 win over Plymouth in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
Tom Cleverley’s side head into the weekend with five wins out of five so far, and sit joint top of the Championship table with Sunderland on nine points, with the Hornets behind only on goal difference following league wins over Millwall, Stoke and Derby.
Sunday afternoon’s match will be the Hertfordshire side’s first real test of the season against a top currently in the top half of the table, but confidence will be through the roof after such a successful opening month of the season which has exceeded all expectations.
Sheffield United have won only one of their last seven games against Watford, but that victory did come in their most recent meeting in Feburary last year with a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane en route to securing promotion to the Premier League.
