Fans convinced Shane McMahon is coming to ‘run AEW’ after major Dynamite tease

Wrestling fans are convinced Shane McMahon is on his way to ‘run’ All Elite Wrestling after a mysterious tease was issued by Jon Moxley on Dynamite.

Moxley opened Wednesday night’s edition of AEW’s flagship show in Champaign, Illinois with an at-times strange segment in the ring with commentator and interviewer Tony Schiavone.

It had been a couple of months since fans had seen the wrestler – who had formerly starred in WWE as Dean Ambrose – following his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship title defeat at Forbidden Door.

While he used the short segment to call out daredevil Darby Allin, it was an afterthought of a comment made by Moxley that really got fans and viewers excited.

Having started to exit the ring, the multi time former world champion turned on his heel and returned to Schiavone before, unprompted, offering: “Let me tell you something. It’s going to take some time for everybody to wrap their brains around this, but we’re going to start right now, okay?

“Listen to me: This is not your company anymore.”

Moxley then stared down Schiavone for several seconds before walking away from the ring, leaving the broadcaster perplexed and fans buzzing over what the threat could have meant.

Many AEW fans quickly made their minds up and pointed the finger at what they feel is the imminent arrival of McMahon in AEW, having already whipped into a frenzy last month after a photo showed McMahon meeting with AEW boss Tony Khan.

A startled looking Khan was sat at a table with McMahon stood on the opposite side and, within seconds, the speculation began over the possibility of Shane playing an active role in AEW, appearing on screen or even wrestling in matches.

Addressing the meeting soon after, McMahon said in a statement: Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend, and we had a great meeting.

“We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family.

“I congratulated him on the five-year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward.”

Moxley’s comment on Dynamite has stirred the McMahon pot again, with many on social media feeling the link to the 54-year-old son of former WWE Owner, Vince, was obvious.

“Planting the seed,” said one fan, alongside a picture of McMahon.

Another said: “Shane is coming to run the whole show!” with another adding: “I think this was a direct message to Tony Khan. A massive angle involving Shane McMahon is coming!”

Dozens more dropped in McMahon images and memes, with a further fan going on to concur: “It definitely sounds like an “invasion” angle. My guess is that Shane is on his way.”

Shane McMahon last featured on screen for WWE back at WrestleMania 39 in 2023, challenging The Miz to an impromptu match, but lasted just seconds before suffering serious injury during the live broadcast after a routine spot went disastrously wrong.

That comeback had been after a controversial appearance at the previous year’s Royal Rumble, criticism flying Shane’s way after he’d supposedly over-booked himself in the men’s Rumble match at the expense of other stars, lasting all the way to the final three.
