Grieving dad outraged over judge’s soft treatment of man, 20, accused of killing his 16-year-old pregnant daughter
A Georgia father is airing outrage after the man cops say killed his pregnant daughter was released on bond.
Edward Campos, father of 16-year-old Mia Campos, made the comments hours after a Gwinnett County judge granted bond to 20-year-old Jesus Monroy.
Monroy is his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, and was seen walking out of jail with his family midnight Thursday. He is said to be the father of the victim’s unborn child.
Despite this, he posted the $56,000 bond, more than a month after being charged with the girl’s murder. A seven month-pregnant Campos was found dead in the woods after disappearing from her home with Monroy on July 14.
A month and a half later, Campos aired his distaste to Channel 2 Action News.

‘It’s getting worse and worse,’ the mourning father said following Judge Karen E. Beyers’ decision.
‘You can see her room, and it’s just an empty box.’
He went on to lament how his daughter, discovered dead on July 15, would have given birth to her son next week.
‘Now I don’t have my grandchild,’ he said. ‘And now I don’t have my daughter.’
This comes after cops cuffed Monroy on four felonies, including murder.
‘But after hearing the defense lawyer. Everything went [down] the hole,’ Campos said of the hearing held the day before where Monroy was told he’d be going home.
‘Everything went to the drain.’
There, Monroy’s attorney successfully argued that since the evidence against his client was circumstantial, he wasn’t a threat.

The jurist also pointed out how the suspect had no criminal record prior to his current criminal case. Because of this, the 20-year-old who is said to be the father of the unborn child was deemed not a flight risk.
Considering the severity of the charges, the attorney asked for $75,000 bond.
Judge Beyers came back with an even lower $50,000, but Jail records show the suspect’s bond eventually ended up $56,000.
Such a decision is extremely rare in a murder case, where suspects’ bail are sometimes set in the millions, if allowed at all.
Moreover, Monroy’s family only had to fork over the required 10 percent – a paltry $5,600.
The Campos family, meanwhile, is still hoping for justice, even though they will never see the victim – as well as her son – ever again.
‘His family can see him, and they can talk to him,’ Campos told Channel 2 Thursday. ‘They can hug them. I can’t do that with my daughter. Because my daughter is gone, Sebastian [the named of his daughter’s unborn son] is gone.’

Monroy, meanwhile, surrendered his passport over to the court as part of the agreement to grant bond. He has also been barred from having contact with any witnesses in the case.
This comes weeks after he was caught allegedly ‘giving false statements to a police officer’ following his July 19 arrest.

‘I found my daughter laid face-down,’ Campos told Atlanta News First at the time. ‘It was hard. I knew it was something wrong – her lips, her bleeding nose.’
Mia was the youngest of five siblings, he said – adding that all have been left reeling from the loss.
‘I’m gonna get justice,’ Campos said Thursday despite the suspect’s release. ‘I’m gonna get justice because I feel 100% (he did it).’
