Monday racing tips

  • BRIGHTON
    2.25: Metro Dubai 3/1
  • CHEPSTOW
    3.05: Brightwalton 5/4
    4.05: Questionable 7/4
  • WINDSOR
    5.30: Calyxoh 15/8 (1pt each)

Metro Dubai

In and around 3/1 throughout the morning while the favourite White Chapel Road has gone into odds-on, narrowly.

But the Elarqam gelding has done better over 7f already and reappeared after being gelded on the all-weather for the first time and over 1m.

He drops back in trip for Simon & Ed Crisford which should be a better running and does like to dictate the pace which could help here, with a couple of rivals stepping up from 6f to 7f.

Brightwalton

Narrowly the second favourite to Lexington Blitz, but this filly by Wootton Bassett gets a huge chance at the weights, being given 12lb from the favourite.

And she should be better than her given mark, while it’s tough to really see how good Lexington Blitz is, so there’s every chance the filly can make the most of this.

She was dropped down to 5f for the first time at Sandown in a maiden, only denied by a neck to Raison d’Etre.

Respectable efforts on her first two outings behind some well respected horses and it should translate to win soon.

Questionable

Has the in-form Billy Loughnane on board which is encouraging on what is the filly’s first go on fast ground.

She’s been seen on soft, heavy and standard on the all-weather but could make that work in her favour.

Her two starts over 1m has seen her placed second each time, including at Ffos Las last month.

That horse went on to win again which helps boost this fillies chances, considering it was a strong Ulysses gelding that also had a weight advantage.

Calyxoh

Only has to give away 2lb to Shrimp Shady who could be a big player unexposed, but may find it tough to reach the level Calyxoh can be at with this being his sixth run.

He was only denied by a short head last time out and looked to just be getting going again, which suggests a step up to 1m for the first time can be a winning move.

Previously sixth and eighth in listed company at Newbury and Royal Ascot in July and June along with a decent fourth behind Pentle Bay at Leicester, all of which over 6f and 5f, so he has versatility but perhaps yet to see his best form.

1lb down from that second placed effort last time out and sets the standard.
