Fans remind Drake of Super Bowl lyric as foe Kendrick’s halftime show confirmed

Kendrick Lamar has confirmed he will perform at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show – and his fans have jumped at the chance to dig out Drake.

The two rappers have a long standing feud stretching back to 2013, and rather than their hatred for each other easing over the years, the flames are currently being stoked more than ever.

Now, the NFL could play host to the biggest chapter yet in the fierce rivalry between them.

Taking to social media on Sunday ahead of the start of the new NFL season, Kendrick confirmed he would headline the Super Bowl next year.

And those on the Compton-born artist’s side were quick to fire insults at Drake.

In the Canadian’s latest album, For All the Dogs – which featured a song with Lamar’s other foe, J Cole – is a track titled ‘First Person Shooter’.

One of the pair’s lines goes: “Numero U-N-O. Me and Drizzy, this s*** like the Super Bowl.

“Man, this*** damn near big as the-

“Big as the what? Big as the what? Big as the what?

“Big as the Super Bowl.”

Lamar didn’t take these claims from his rival rappers well, and a few months later, he went in on the pair in an uncredited verse on ‘Like That’, a track on Metro Boomin’ and Future’s ‘We Don’t Trust You’ album.

Lamar promised to put all of Drake and J Cole’s ‘dogs’ in the ‘pet sematary’ – the name of a Stephen King 1983 horror novel – aka, the pair’s nearest and dearest, amongst other strong insults.

Soon enough, ‘beef’ was trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kendrick fans immediately rushed to social media to point out it was the Money Trees rapper that was playing the Super Bowl as soon as it was announced.

“Kendrick circling all the way back to the song that kicked off the whole thing for the final death blow jesus christ he’s a madman,” one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A second said: “Drake: Big as the Super Bowl. Kendrick: …and I took that personally.”

“Kendrick Lamar has the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time,” a third posted.

The pair have written spicy disstracks about each other this year, including Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’, which has been played over 700 million times on Spotify alone.

And Kendrick appeared to fire back at his sparring partner’s cryptic claim of ‘winning Game 2’ on his private Instagram.

In his announcement video, he said: “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship.

“No round twos.”
