Rob McElhenney has four simple words as he responds to astonishing Wrexham stat

Rob McElhenney has credited Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson for their recent dominance, stating: “In Phil we trust”.

The Welsh side have enjoyed a meteoric rise during the last three years having recorded back-to-back promotions from the National League and League Two.

While it’s early days in their first campaign in the third-tier, Wrexham are already flying high as they sit top of League One.

Since the start of the 2022/23 campaign, no side has accumulated more points in England’s top five leagues, having won 212 points in that time.

This came after a mammoth 111-point tally earned promotion from the National League in 2023, before they won 88 points to go up from League Two last term.

This season, Wrexham have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 available, something that co-owner McElhenney has credited to the club’s head coach, Phil Parkinson.

Sharing the statistic, McElhenney said: “It’s all because of this man. In Phil we trust.”

Parkinson was appointed as Wrexham boss in the summer of 2021 and led the Welsh side to the play-offs in his first campaign, but they lost to Grimsby in the semi-finals.

That campaign was only paving the way for the back-to-back promotions that followed.

This term, Wrexham have aspirations of securing a third promotion on the trot, however, they will have to overcome eight former Premier League sides if they’re going to do so.

Wrexham are also hoping for success in the Football League Trophy where they’ll face Salford City.

Salford are famously backed by Manchester United’s Class of ’92 members including David Beckham and Gary Neville, with both sides winning one of their two contests last term as they faced off in League Two.

Wrexham will then face a crunch clash with promotion rivals Birmingham City on Monday night.

The match will see Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney’s side face the Blues who boast a shareholder in NFL legend Tom Brady.

Clearly buzzing for the occasion, McElhenney shared a message to Brady which read: “See you next Monday @TomBrady 😉 Should be an absolute banger.”
