Harry Kane tipped to make shock career change by the time he’s 35 years old

England and Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane has been backed to embark on a career in the NFL by the time he’s 35 years old.

Kane celebrated his 100th cap for the Three Lions in style, scoring both of England’s goals in a comfortable 2-0 win over Finland in the Nations League.

But at age 31, Kane will be well aware he is likely closer to the end of his career rather than the start of it.

His trophy drought is well-documented too, having finished as a runner-up six times in finals for club and country.

Yet Kane is hoping to defy conventional wisdom when it comes to prolonging his career and made a point of mentioning NFL legend Tom Brady during Monday’s press conference.

Brady, considered the greatest quarterback of all time, was 43 years old when he won his seventh Super Bowl in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and retired two years later.

Speaking on talkSPORT prior to England’s clash against Finland, talkSPORT’s Henry Winter discussed the England skipper’s admiration for Brady’s ‘longevity and total application, which is what Harry Kane‘s about’.

Winter then made the bold suggestion that Kane could forge a career of his own in the same sport Brady dominated for decades.

And we might not have to wait very long for it to become reality.

“I think Harry Kane will be a kicker in the NFL by the time he’s 35,” Winter told talkSPORT.

“He’s 31 now. I think he’ll obviously have a good time at Bayern Munich, win some things there. But I can seriously see him doing that.”

Winter added: “Honestly, I can see Harry Kane doing that because he likes America and he loves kicking in the NFL. He’s talked about it before and I’m sure Tom Brady could open some doors for him.”

Darren Bent admits he would rather have Jamie Vardy’s club career than Harry Kane’s

Kane would not be the first footballer to swap the round ball for the pigskin.

A former Austrian League striker by the name of Toni Fritsch won three titles with Rapid Wien in the 1960s before he moved to America and joined the Dallas Cowboys as a kicker.

Fritsch won a Super Bowl in his first season with Dallas and even earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1979.

Kane, who has two dogs named after NFL quarterbacks in Brady and Russell Wilson, has also not been shy about his ambitions of becoming a kicker.

In 2019, the 31-year-old told ESPN he would ‘definitely want to try’ and become a kicker in the next ‘ten or 12 years’.

Kane doubled down on the claim in 2023, conceding it would take a lot of effort but hopefully worth the reward.

“It’s something I definitely want to explore,” Kane told Good Morning America.

“I know it will be a lot of hard work. I’m not expecting to just walk up and start kicking field goals. It would be a lot of practice, a lot of hard work.

“But yeah, it’s something I’d love to do. The NFL is something I have been following for about ten years now, and I love it, so I would love to give it a go.”
