Wrexham striker Paul Mullin celebrates goal with Deadpool mask in funny tribute

Cutting onto his left foot on the edge of the penalty area, Mullin curled a glorious effort into the top corner to put Wrexham 1-0 up.

With what looked like a low-key celebration, Mullin trotted over to a towel that was placed behind the goal before unveiling a Deadpool mark.

He then put the mask on his head and struck a pose.

The celebration was a tribute to his recent cameo appearance in the latest release of the popular superhero franchise.

Invited by Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds, Mullin made it to the big screen after taking on the role of ‘Welshpool’, a character created to give a nod to the Welsh side.

As well as a blockbuster cast including superstar Hugh Jackman, Reynolds made sure that that there was space for ‘his special someone’ in his latest project, Deadpool & Wolverine.

Taking to X, Reynolds confirmed Mullin’s role in the film, saying: “You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL.”

Among the images, Mullin could be seen on set with Reynolds.

While Reynolds is wearing his famous Deadpool outfit, Mullin is wearing a version of the outfit with a Welsh flag emblazoned across his chest.

It’s that superhero status which makes Mullin a massive his with Wrexham’s supporters.
