Active shooter at Colorado apartment complex: Cops lock down Arista Flats in Broomfield and warn public to stay away
An active shooter is on the loose at an apartment complex in Colorado.
Police were called to the Arista Flats in Broomfield, northwest of Denver, on Thursday morning.
Residents have been told to shelter in place and avoid the area.
Cop were reporting shots still being fired as of just after 10am.
A SWAT team and crisis negotiators have been drafted in to help deal with the emergency.

SWAT teams and negotiators have been drafted in to deal with the ongoing situation, police said
‘The surrounding area is NOT SAFE,’ Broomfield Police said in a statement. ‘Limited evacuations have been done. Everyone else please avoid the area.’
The police also confirmed that nearby Jefferson Academy is ‘on secure’.
‘When a building is on secure it is business as usual inside the school,’ the statement said. The doors are locked, no one is coming or going.
