Bet of the day

Dortmund to win and both teams to score @ 7/4

Borussia Dortmund entertain surprise Bundesliga leaders Heidenheim as the German top-flight weekend gets underway at Signal Iduna Park.

Frank Schmidt’s visitors have won both games so far, scoring six times without conceding, despite averaging the 16th lowest possession figure so far.

Heidenheim are well versed in making the most of limited possession and have now scored in 13 of their last 14 Bundesliga away days.

They are one of three teams with perfect records at this early stage, alongside Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

This, though, is a tougher test and Dortmund are heavy favourites to maintain their 100 per cent home record after dispatching Frankfurt 2-0 last time.

The visitors finished eighth last season, a remarkable first campaign at this level and twice drew with Dortmund including coming from two goals down after just 15 minutes in this fixture to draw 2-2.

They should put up plenty of fight, and may notch a goal, but expect Dortmund to boss the ball and get all three points in the end.

Special of the day

Draw/Real Betis Half Time/Full Time @ 31/10

Real Betis should wear down Leganes at home, but it might take some time as they make their latest attempt at registering a first La Liga win.

They’ve drawn with Champions League-bound Girona and Alaves before a 2-0 loss against champions Real Madrid and will be hoping Leganes present a more winnable challenge.

With Isco set to miss out, Betis may turn to on-loan Barcelona teenager Vitor Roque for firepower at some stage.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are starting into a trio of home assignments, with Getafe and Mallorca to follow, and can begin with a win.

Leganes have only conceded one first half goal in four La Liga games – that coming from Mallorca’s Daniel Rodriguez in the 43rd minute – and they can prove stubborn here before Betis eventually crack the code.

Long shot of the day

Raith to beat Dunfermline 2-0 @ 10/1

The first Fife derby of the Scottish Championship season takes place at East End Park as Dunfermline welcome Raith Rovers.

Both teams are struggling, with just one league win from six between them so far.

New Raith manager Neill Collins watched his side lose 3-2 to Ayr United in the SPFL Trust Trophy last weekend despite having led 2-0 and there were some signs of encouragement there.

Raith’s excellent recent record in this fixture saw them reel off five consecutive wins last season against Dunfermline and, if they can get into that dominant two-goal lead once more, they might just be able to close ranks and see it out against a Pars side with only a single goal league goal registered so far.
