Friday racing tips

• DONCASTER
  1.50: East India Dock 11/4 (1pt)
  2.25: Symbol Of Honour 11/4 (1.5pts)

  3.35: Sweet William 2/1 (2pts)
• SALISBURY
  3.55: Tabiti 9/4 (1pt)

East India Dock

Won well at Goodwood over 2m after just failing by a neck to get the win in August.

Has shown he’s great over this distance when placing close behind the improving Align The Stars at Haydock.

Has now been upped 6lb since then and probably has more to offer going forward.

He really should have won convincingly, which he did, last time out as he was given 19lb by Calling The Wind who placed second over four lengths behind.

Ryan Moore is back on board and should give this Golden Horn gelding another great chance to win.

Symbol Of Honour

This Godolphin grey gelding was sixth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot last time out, hasn’t been seen since as he was gelded just two days after.

It was such a bunched finish in that Royal Ascot contest, he was only just over a length off the winner Rashabar.

That race has thrown out a lot of subsequent winners and stablemate Al Qudra who finished a neck ahead has gone on to win nicely since too, achieving a rating of 108.

As have a few others including Cool Hoof Luke who finished in 4th and it’s hard to go with the once-raced colt Jonquil, when that proven form is there for a yard and jockey seemingly also going well.

Should have more to offer with this extra furlong too and may even improve more from the gelding operation.

Big Mojo

Big Mojo made a big statement when winning at Goodwood in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes, beating Aesterius who reappears as a rival here.

The two-year-old colt went on to try the 6f in the Gimcrack which didn’t prove to be a winning step up in trip, but was only two lengths off the impressive Cool Hoof Luke in 4th place.

The drop back to 5f and that confirmed sprint speed is tough to match, with Silvestre De Sousa on board at 5/2, it looks a great bet.

Sweet William

Beaten by Kyprios at Goodwood in the Goodwood Cup in July which was the last time we saw this great stayer, who could just be improving as time goes on.

He beat Caius Chorister on soft ground at Sandown and was a close 3rd behind Coltrane and Caius Chorister the time before that, so it really looks like Sweet William is the best bet at 2/1.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see this horse at evens, but coming up against the ever popular Trueshan and Coltrane at the same time, there’s plenty of interest in all three.

Coltrane is a huge price considering but has been below par in his last two outings.

Gregory has been consistent too in top races but has been just a handful of lengths behind the likes of Vauban, Kyprios and Giavellotto this season and tough to back for a winning return at just 4/1.

Point Lonsdale is around a 9/2 shot, having finished three lengths behind Gregory in the Lonsdale Cup, which was won by Vauban and makes an interesting bid to go beyond 2m for the first time.

Sweet William just seems to have all the boxes ticked, as the five-year-old continues to find and is ever consistent in these staying battles.

Tabiti

Tipped Tabiti earlier this month for the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes and she looked a strong contender: “But the way Tabiti stormed clear suggests she has the potential to go well further and shorter in trip with Rossa Ryan not needing to ask much of the filly to go on and win.

“The Kingman filly is an early favourite in a wide open contest and with Ryan Moore on board there’s even more confidence the two-year-old can go on and win again.”

However, that race wasn’t to be as it was abandoned and we had to wait another few days to see this promising filly again having been a non-runner at Goodwood, due to soft ground.

Greydreambeliever was a contender for Salisbury last time but as an each-way price, but it does seem to be in favour of the Rossa Ryan mount, trained by Ralph Beckett.

Valvano

It’s another short priced tip, the shortest of the lot at odds-on.

But for good reason as this Night Of Thunder gelding has top form against his rivals.

He’s not been seen since April when second to Notable Speech at Kempton and ought to go better not only back on the turf but on his first run since being gelded in June.

He won on heavy ground on debut in style and has the makings of a great middle distance horse at this stage.

So should win nicely for trainer Beckett who could have a few big winners here with Tabiti, Sandtrap and Valvano favourites.
