He stepped out in just a pair of black shorts slung low on his hips, and his grey hair appeared slightly dishevelled.

After taking a moment to enjoy the fresh air, the former Good Wife actor turned and went back into his hotel room.

Alan arrived in Australia on Saturday after flying in from the US, ahead of his appearance as the artistic director at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Speaking about his role as artistic director at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Alan revealed he was due to attend last year’s festival, but it was cancelled because of COVID.

‘As we all know, that little virus (Ms Rona to her friends) had other plans. The 2020 Adelaide Cabaret Festival was an online only event, the Edinburgh festivals were cancelled and suddenly all the goalposts were changed and I was in zoom meetings discussing venue cleaning turnaround times and hotel quarantine budgets,’ he wrote for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival website.

‘I love the spirit and the joy and the spunk and the fusion of high and low culture that is Australia. And I even love the slight inferiority complex it can have because I have that too,’ he added.

‘In fact, the entire description above could apply to me! I have spirit! I have joy! I have spunk! And I am definitely a fusion of the high and the low!’
