Alex Dimitriades shares emotional tribute to Dieter Brummer following his sudden death at age 45

Greek-Australian actor Alex Dimitriades has shared a heartbreaking tribute to Dieter Brummer following his tragic death aged 45.

The Heartbreak Kid star, 47, shared his condolences as he posted an emotional plea begging fans to ‘look after each other’s mental health’.

‘I always felt your pain but we never really discussed it, we were never really that tight. I knew you were one of the real ones, a little too real for this plastic world, maybe,’ he wrote.

‘Well mannered and well misunderstood. But a gentleman nonetheless, in spite of the embodied ownership of a trapped soul. Look at that smile, way too young but I guess 45 years in your head was too long.’

Alex continued: ‘So now you may rest easy, my friend. Live your best life. That last line is a message not just for my old running mate but also whoever reads this. It’s a sad day, I am mourning this tragic loss.’

‘If there was a button which said call someone in distress, you might just save their life, I would press it. Look after each others mental health and please stop dying coz my page is starting to read like the obituaries section and I can’t deal. Rest In Peace, Dieter Brummer. Condolences to his family and close friends.’

‘On behalf of my family, We post this today with a heavy heart,’ the Facebook post began. ‘We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning.

‘He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same. Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.

‘We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time.’

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph in November, Brummer started up a window washing business after turning his back on acting.

‘People say that I’m just a window cleaner, in reality it’s substantially more involved than that. Working at heights it’s a relatively specialist trade,’ he told TV Tonight in April 2010.

Brummer said he was able to employ his rock climbing skills in his new profession, and was appreciative of the ‘life experience’ it had given him.

‘I just wanted to get a bit of real life experience under my belt but I’d always intended on coming back to the acting game at some point,’ he added.

Brummer, who turned 45 in May, was notably involved in a Home and Away storyline with co-star Melissa George, who played his on-screen wife Angel Brooks.
