She is an Ambassador for the Royal Commonwealth Society.

And on Thursday Alexandra Burke, 33 put on a smart display as she attended The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition Awards Ceremony at St James’s Palace.  

The singer looked chic as she turned up to the event wearing a houndstooth trouser suit which she paired with a simple black turtle neck.

The former X-Factor winner beamed in a monochrome suit which featured a contrasting beige colour block and collar. 

She teamed the outfit with a pair of smart pointed toe stiletto heels and a small simple black shoulder bag. 

The singer wore her red hair loose in a soft tousled curl as she finished off her look with a smokey eye, luscious thick eyelashes and a nude lip.

Ambassador: Alexandra was appointed as an inaugural ambassador of the Royal Commonwealth Society in June this year with the aim to help promote educational opportunities within the Commonwealth

The star looked very busy as she clutched her invitation in one hand and took a phone call en route to the event. 

The event hosted by The Duchess of Cornwall on Thursday is one of many Commonwealth Service’s that the singer has attended. 

The songstress preformed at the 2020 Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.

Alexandra was appointed as an inaugural ambassador of the Royal Commonwealth Society in June this year.

Alongside Spice Girl Gerri Horner (née Halliwell), comedian David Walliams and MP Gyles Brandreth. Alexandra will help promote educational opportunities within the Commonwealth. 

The competition is the world’s oldest writing competition, established in 1883 it aims to encourage and develop creative writing skills amongst school children. 

The winner will receive a trip to London for a week of educational and cultural events.
