Alicia Vikander to star in and executive produce upcoming Dial M For Murder anthology series based on the 1954 film of the same name

Alicia Vikander will soon be making her highly anticipated debut as a ‘series regular’ on U.S. television.

The Academy Award-winning actress, 32, is set to star in and executive produce the upcoming TV adaptation of Dial M For Murder, as per The Hollywood Reporter

‘Designed as an anthology series that will reset each season, the new take reimagines Frederick Knott’s 1952 play and its subsequent 1954 feature film by Alfred Hitchcock,’ the outlet explained.

Adding another aspect to the reimagining, the anthology series will ‘tell the crime thriller from the female perspective.’

The new take on Dial M For Murder was created by playwright Michael Mitnick, who boasts HBO’s Vinyl as one of his writing credits.

Vikander and writer/producer Terence Winter teamed with MGM/UA Television to develop the series, which currently has no network attached to it.

THR explained that Winter would ‘oversee the creative,’ while executive producing alongside Vikander and her London-based agent Charles Collier.

Other executive producers include Andrew Mittman of 1.21 and Lloyd Braun.

The 1954 film adaptation of Dial M For Murder revolves around an ‘ex-tennis pro’ named Tony Wendice,’ played by Ray Milland, who ‘wants to have his wealthy wife, Margot (Grace Kelly) murdered so he can get his hands on her inheritance.’

And when he discovers Margot’s affair with Mark Halliday, played by Robert Cummings, Tony ‘comes up with the perfect plan to kill her.’
