Bailey Smith will have challenges dealing with an ‘insane’ and ‘absurd’ level of fame

AFL bad boy Bailey Smith will have challenges dealing with his ‘insane’ and ‘absurd’ level of fame, Western Bulldogs teammate says

He’s currently one of the most recognisable AFL stars in the country.

And one of Bailey Smith’s teammates has described the public reaction to the 20-year-old Western Bulldogs star as ‘insane’ and ‘absurd’.

‘I have never seen anything like that,’ retiring Bulldogs captain Easton Wood told the Herald Sun over the weekend.

The supremely toned midfielder was swarmed by female fans after their runner-up effort in this year’s Grand Final.

Commenting on the scenes, Wood said, ‘There were just rings of people waiting to get a photo and then rings outside of that talking about the photo with him.’

However, he added that Smith ‘is well aware of the mental health side of things’ and that mindset ‘will hold him in good stead’ as his career progresses.

Meanwhile the AFL rookie, who already boasts over 350,000 Instagram followers, has never been shy about stripping down for racy social media posts.

And Smith was at it again last Wednesday, stripping down to just a pair of shorts for a photo on Instagram Stories.

The AFL bad boy shared a selfie in which he flaunted his insanely toned torso.

The photo appeared to have been taken poolside, in the reflection of a window.

The Western Bulldogs flashed his six pack and seriously toned external obliques.

He added the cryptic caption, ‘talk to us then,’ followed by a sunshine emoji.

In another sign of his wild popularity, Bailey recently revealed he’d been approached by Channel Nine to appear on Love Island Australia.

However, the athlete said that he couldn’t accept the offer – partly because he was worried he’d get a ‘villain edit’.

‘I got messaged by Love Island to go on Love Island,’ he told It’s A Lot last week.

‘But I don’t think they understand my schedule and how I can’t just stop going to footy,’ he added.

‘And that was my one nightmare, if I ever went on a show it would be them cutting things and portraying me as a bad person or, like, worrying about something that I’m not.

‘It’s like, please, I don’t like giving someone that much power. It is scary.’
