Bella Hadid looks giddy as she reunites with former French First Lady and lookalike pal Carla Bruni

They’ve been firm friends for years and have previously poked fun at their incredible resemblance.

So Bella Hadid and Carla Bruni were delighted to be reunited once again as they attended the Cannes Film Festival 2021 opening ceremony on Tuesday night.

Attending the screening of the film Annette – which is competing for an award at the festival – Bella, 24, turned heads in a white gown with sheer black train, while Carla, 53, wowed in a sparkling ice blue dress.

Seeing double! Bella Hadid, 24, looked giddy as she reunites with former French First Lady and lookalike pal Carla Bruni, 53, at Cannes Film Festival’s opening ceremony on Tuesday

The pair have long been compared to one another due to their striking physical resemblance, with Carla herself remarking on the similarities when they first met in 2018.

After running into one another at Cannes, Carla shared a selfie of the pair as she quipped: Do I have a hidden daughter? @bellahadid’.

When the pair attended the festival again the following year, Carla shared another snap, joking: ‘With my (slightly younger) sister @bellahadid at the @vogueparis x @Dior dinner in Cannes’, to which Bella replied, ‘Love you so very much’.

As well as spending plenty of time in one another’s company socialising at parties, the pair have also worked together, previously sharing the cover of Elle France.

Italian-born Carla looked typically elegant in the one-shouldered Celine frock, which featured dazzling embellished fabric that draped over one arm and cascaded down her back.

Carla, whose floor-length frock boasted a thigh-high slit which drew attention to her svelte pins, paired her glamorous ensemble with silver high heels and a dainty clutch bag.

Carla opted for a fresh-faced makeup look and let her chestnut locks fall over her shoulders in loose waves.

Annette’s popularity has seemingly grown beyond both Henry and Ann, with the couple seen running with the child from a mob of fans.

Other fans in a packed building hold up signs that read, ‘We love Annette,’ as the couple are seen on a boat as Ann says, ‘Is nothing sacred to you?’

Ann is seen shielding her face from an oncoming car collision, as Henry is being lead through the Los Angeles County Jail.

The trailer winds down with a number of dramatic shots including Driver yelling to a crowd, ‘What’s your problem?’

The final shot finds a distraught Henry telling presumably Annette that, ‘Everything will be all right.’

The film will be released in theaters on August 6, before debuting on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service on August 20.
