Biden: ‘only Santa Claus’ can guarantee gifts but says supply chain woes are better

Biden says ‘only Santa Claus can promise’ if Americans get their gifts on time for Christmas amid supply chain crisis and attacks Republicans for caring more about elections than families

  • President Joe Biden pushed Wednesday that the supply chain issues will be worked out so that Americans can mostly enjoy the holiday season
  • ‘Now I can’t promise that every person will get every gift they want on time – only Santa Claus can keep that promise,’ Biden said
  • Biden then went on to suggest that the GOP cared more about elections than lowering costs for families, as they’ve resisted the Build Back Better bill

President Joe Biden pushed Wednesday that the supply chain issues will be worked out so that Americans can mostly enjoy the holiday season.

‘Now I can’t promise that every person will get every gift they want on time – only Santa Claus can keep that promise,’ Biden said, adding that ‘there are items every year that sell out, that are hard to find.’

He noted that ‘some of you moms and dads may remember Cabbage Patch Kids in the 80s or Beanie Babies in the 90s.’

Biden then went on to suggest that Republicans cared more about elections than lowering costs for families, as they’ve resisted his $1.75 trillion Build Back Better bill.

‘I don’t want to speculate on anybody’s motives, but it’s always easier to complain about the problem than try to fix it,’ Biden said.

‘One Republican senator even tried to say that rising prices are a “gold mine” for Republicans politically,’ he continued.

‘Imagine rooting for a higher cost for American families just to score a few political points,’ Biden remarked.

Biden pointed to the highlights of the Build Back Better bill, which includes universal pre-K, capping childcare costs, an extension of the child tax credit and other social infrastructure goodies.

He argued that the Build Back Better bill would lower costs by on-averate $7,400 for a family of two parents and two kids.

‘My critics don’t seem to agree,’ Biden said. ‘They give a lot of speeches about high prices, supply chain and other challenges we’re facing but they don’t offer any answers.’

‘That’s the plan- vote no,’ he said. ‘But what does that mean? What does a no vote mean on this bill? Not on cable news, not on Fox … but in the real world, in real life.’

‘Look, remember, we’re in a situation that as far as Republicans are concerned they’d rather the bills are your kitchen table be higher than the tax bills of corporate conference rooms and mansions be lower,’ Biden said.
