Big Brother’s Katie Williams was left speechless when her ex boyfriend Max Beattie entered the compound.

And on Wednesday, the 26-year-old finally revealed the truth about rumours that he was placed in the house on purpose to create drama.

‘I was so shocked to see Max in the house. I honestly couldn’t believe it,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It was written all over my face and. I think it was quite hilarious that happened.’

‘It actually genuinely was a coincidence,’ the podcaster explained. ‘The producers didn’t do that on purpose.’

‘It was just a coincidence that him and I were in the house together, which is just hilarious.’

Katie could hardly believe it when she laid eyes on her ex during the show’s premiere episode.

Immediately after setting his sights on Katie, a shocked Max, 29, said: ‘Oh f**k. You’re kidding.’ 

‘Oh my God!’ yelled Katie before laughing, while holding a Champagne glass.

‘That’s my ex,’ she exclaimed as she walked over to greet him.

Last month, Daily Mail Australia revealed that the pair dated almost a decade ago. 

Katie said they were in a relationship when they both competed in the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships some moons ago. 

‘We dated when I was 20. Max was in the NZ team and I was in the Australian team,’  she said of their romance.

She explained they have remained friends after ending their long distance relationship after less than one year.

 ‘Our teams versed each other. We did long distance, he lived in Queensland and I was in NSW for less than a year,’ she said.

‘[We were] too young and distance was too hard. We have stayed good friends.’ 

New Zealand-born Max grew up in Kiama, NSW before moving to Queensland at a young age.
