Lisa Wilkinson gives an impassioned speech to sexual assault victims after disgraced actor Bill Cosby was released from prison on a legal technicality

The Project host Lisa Wilkinson has shared her frustration that disgraced entertainer Bill Cosby was freed from prison on a technicality.

The 61-year-old gave an impassioned speech to victims of sexual assault on Thursday after news broke that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court had released Cosby, 83, from prison following his 2018 sexual assault conviction.

‘For any woman who has ever felt controlled, any woman who has ever felt unheard when they’ve been brave enough to come forward and tell their story… and feel like no one is listening,’ Wilkinson said.

He had served nearly three years of a three to 10-year sentence after being found guilty of drugging and violating Temple University sports administrator Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

His conviction was seen as a turning point in the #MeToo movement to hold powerful men accountable for sexual misconduct.

The decision to overturn his conviction was based on how a former prosecutor had promised Cosby he wouldn’t be charged back in 2005 and lulled him into incriminating himself.
