Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor spotted carrying Meditations by Marcus Aurelius ahead of filming movie

Phoebe the philosopher is hooked on a VERY highbrow book: Bridgerton’s Dynevor is spotted carrying Meditations by Marcus Aurelius ahead of filming scenes for her next movie

  • Dynevor, 26, was spotted carrying the book near Bradford’s Town Hall last Friday
  • Book is a classic work of ancient Stoic philosophy by Roman emperor Aurelius
  • Ancient leader died in 180AD and was played by Richard Harris in Gladiator film

It’s rather less raunchy than the novels that inspired Bridgerton, but actress Phoebe Dynevor appears to have turned to the philosophy of a Roman emperor for some life lessons.

The 26-year-old was spotted carrying Meditations by Marcus Aurelius as she emerged from a people carrier at Bradford’s Town Hall last Friday, to film scenes for her next movie.

Regarded as a classic work of ancient Stoic philosophy, Meditations contains the musings of the Roman emperor who died in 180 AD and is better known to modern audiences for being played by Richard Harris in 2000 film Gladiator.

Aurelius’s mottos for life such as ‘Dwell on the beauty of life’ and ‘Be tolerant of others and strict with yourself’ have won legions of famous fans down the centuries.

Now it seems that Ms Dynevor, who shot to fame as Daphne Bridgerton in the TV series based on the books by Julia Quinn, is seeking inspiration from the Roman philosopher as work on her latest movie, Bank Of Dave, nears completion.

After spotting Phoebe in a bulky black coat covering a red biker jacket, an onlooker said: ‘She looked as if she was pretty focused on filming.

‘She didn’t waste any time hanging around or chatting. She was inside within seconds.’

Bank Of Dave tells the story of how Burnley businessman Dave Fishwick, played by James Bond actor Rory Kinnear, set up lending company Burnley Savings and Loans in 2011 to help local businesses still struggling to survive after the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

In the film, Ms Dynevor, daughter of Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, plays Alexandra, a fiery local doctor.

Phoebe’s television career began at the age of 14 when she won a part in the children’s BBC TV series Waterloo Road.
