Candice Warner jokes a marathon sex session may have been to blame for David’s groin injury

‘Sorry, Australia’: Candice Warner says a marathon sex session was to blame for her cricketer husband David’s groin injury… after they reunited for the first time in four months

David Warner gave Australia major cause for concern on Sunday, after he limped off the pitch at the Sydney Cricket Ground due to a painful groin injury in a match against India.

And his wife, Candice, joked on Tuesday that perhaps cricket wasn’t entirely to blame for the strain – as just days prior, the couple had finally reunited after spending four months apart.

‘Sorry, Australia!’ Candice, 35, laughed on Triple M’s Moonman in the Morning, hinting that the pair had enjoyed a marathon sex session shortly before the game.

Caught out: David Warner’s wife, Candice, joked on Tuesday that perhaps cricket wasn’t entirely to blame for his groin injury during a match against India over the weekend

‘We only sort of reunited after four months apart, a couple of days prior… and everyone’s like, “What have you done to him?”‘ she giggled.

Raising her hands to protest her innocence, she added: ‘I’m like, “It wasn’t me! It was not me.”‘

Radio host Lawrence Mooney responded: ‘You’re under a cloud now. Dave Warner’s got a groin strain… you might have cost his country a cricketing summer!’

Joking aside, Candice did reassure fans that David was doing everything in his power to recover in time for the first Test match against India, which takes place at the Adelaide Oval on December 17.

Candice added: ‘So, he’s got a groin strain and now it’s just a lot of recovery, a lot of monitoring and hopefully…

‘I mean there’s 17 days before the first Test against India, so hopefully he’ll be ready to go. But it is serious, and he is in a lot of pain.

‘He will not want to miss that first test against India.’

Prior to his match on Sunday, David, 34, had just completed two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine, after competing in the Indian Premier League in the UAE.

He reunited with Candice and their three daughters, Ivy Mae, Indi Rae, and Isla Rose, just last week.

On Thursday, he shared a picture to Instagram of himself with his girls, writing: ‘After 108 days finally I am back with my girls. Isla still won’t sit still or smile in a group pic. My happy place, family.’

Prior to their reunion, the former Ironwoman had shared a sweet image of herself and her daughters, and explained how hard it’d been without David.

‘For close to four months now it’s just been me and my little girl gang at home while my darling husband @davidwarner31 has been overseas playing cricket. Fingers crossed that this time next week we will be a gang of five again. We miss you daddy!’ she wrote.
