Carrie Underwood celebrates her son Jacob turning two by sharing a sweet photo from his birth: ‘We prayed for you’

She rarely shares photos of her two young children on social media.

But Carrie Underwood made an exception on Thursday to mark her son Jacob’s second birthday.

The 37-year-old country music superstar posted an adorable photo of her toddler from when he was still a newborn to mark the occasion.

Adorable: Carrie Underwood, 37, posted a sweet photo of her son Jacob that was taken shortly after he was born to mark his second birthday on January 21

Jacob seemed to be sleeping peacefully in the picture, which showed him with a hat and swaddled in a white patterned blanket.

‘Jacob, we longed for you. We prayed for you. We walked a long, hard road in order to one day hold you,’ Carrie captioned the snap.

‘Today you are two. You are silly and strong. You love to play and sing and follow your big brother around. You are loved. You are cherished. You are an incredible blessing from God. Happy birthday, sweet boy!’ she concluded.

Carrie’s husband Mike Fisher also got in on the birthday love with his own photo of present-day Jacob.

‘Happy 2nd birthday Jacob! You’ve brought so much joy to our family the last 2 years!’ he wrote.

‘Your laugh may just be the best thing in the world:) Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you in the years ahead! #happybirthday.’

Carrie and Mike welcomed their first son, Isaiah, in 2015, but throughout 2017 and 2018 the American Idol star suffered three miscarriages as she tried to conceive again.

In a 2018 interview with CBS News, she admitted that the family tragedies were the inspiration for her 2018 single Cry Pretty, on the album of the same name.

‘Throughout the whole process [of miscarrying], you know, I’m writing and, like, literally right after finding out that I would lose a baby, I’d have a writing session, I’d be like, “Let’s go. You know, I can’t just sit around thinking about this. Like, I wanna work, I wanna do this,”‘ she recalled.

‘I would literally have these horrible things going on in my life, and then have to go smile and, like, do some interviews or, like, do a photo shoot or something, you know? So it was just kind of, like, therapeutic, I guess.’

After years of trying again, the couple were blessed with Jacob, who was born on January 21, 2019.
