Celeste Barber hits back at a model who demanded ‘credit’ for parody

Celeste Barber hits back at an Instagram model who said she should have asked permission to parody her video – then demands ‘proper credit’

Celeste Barber has clapped back at a Portuguese model and photographer who objected to her video being parodied.

The comedian, 39, shared a clip on Instagram on Wednesday making fun of Anastasia Young, who had earlier posted a video of herself dancing with a coconut at the beach in a skimpy swimsuit.

While Anastasia looked quite graceful in her video, Celeste clumsily danced with a roll of toilet paper in an apparent reference to Australian panic buyers.

Her post was captioned: ‘We all have that one mate who gets weird around props.’

After Celeste’s version went viral, Anastasia left a comment saying she should have asked permission first and also demanded ‘proper credit’ for use of her original footage.

Celeste had actually tagged Anastasia in the clip shared with her eight million followers, but that apparently wasn’t enough.

‘I believe [it] would be fair if you ask us before using this video (for the second time already),’ Anastasia wrote underneath the parody.

‘Or at least to give a proper credit in the description. Please be a bit mindful about it and contact me ASAP. Thank you.’

The charity campaigner’s response soon gained hundreds of likes.

Under Australian law, Celeste probably wouldn’t need Anastasia’s permission to use her video for parody purposes as this would likely be considered ‘fair use’.

However, the laws may be different in Portugal or wherever Anastasia lives.

It comes after Celeste slammed anti-vaxxers and their ridiculous 5G conspiracy theories.

The social media star shared a video to TikTok in which she mocked people spreading dangerous misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine.

‘I just want to jump on here and speak mainly to anti-vaxxers. I hear that you guys are freaking out, I do I really hear it and I can feel it,’ she said.

‘I just want you all to know that when I got my first Pfizer shot about a week ago, the nurse who gave it to me actually showed me the 5G before she put it in the vial, which I think is really good,’ she joked.

‘You’d be very surprised at how small Bill Gates’ DNA is because it actually fits in the vial!’

Celeste went on to say: ‘I just want you guys to know they are being very transparent about it. A lot of the anti-vaxxer people are really worried.

‘They do hold the vial out in direct sunlight for a while as well to get all that healing sunlight in to keep you safe from an international pandemic. I just wanted to let you guys know, for those of you who are really worried.’
