Channel 10 make SHOCK announcement about TV show Hughesy, We Have a Problem at network’s 2022 upfronts


Hughesy, We Have a Problem has been cancelled by Channel 10 after five seasons.

The comedy panel television series hosted by comedian Dave Hughes was revealed to have faced the axe at the network’s 2022 upfronts on Wednesday.

Hughesy, We Have a Problem was dropped by the network along with craft-based reality show Making it Australia, which only ran for one season.

The series featured comedians Dave Hughes, Becky Lucas and Nazeem Hussain solving problems from their audience, fellow panellists, or even the host himself. 

The first season of the show, which aired in 2018, started off strong in the TV ratings but slowly declined over time.

During its run, Hughesy, We Have a Problem often pulled middling audience numbers of 400,000 to 550,000, but fell to the 200,000 to 300,000 mark as the seasons’ progressed.

The latest season that aired between February and March of this year managed between 190,000 to 300,000 viewers, with one episode getting 354,000. 

Making it Australia faired worse, getting the axe after just one season.  

Viewership for the crafting program had tumbled from 474,000 for its premiere episode, to below 200,000 for later outings.

The show only premiered in mid-September and has since been pushed to Saturday nights due to its poor ratings.

A decision on the futures of Bondi Rescue, The Cube, Territory Cops and How to Stay Married is yet to be made. 

Channel 10 introduced two new programs – The Hunted and Would I Lie to You Australia? – at the upfronts. 

First Dates will also be premiering in 2022 on 10. The reality dating series previously aired on the Seven Network from 2016 to 2020.
