Channel Nine producer finally explains weird detail about A Current Affair

Channel Nine boss FINALLY explains a strange detail about A Current Affair that has left viewers baffled for years

A Channel Nine executive producer has revealed why A Current Affair teases viewers at the end of every show.

Before ending the program, the host Tracy Grimshaw says a story is ‘coming up’ even though it doesn’t air on that night and is a promo for the following episode.

‘I want to keep (viewers) going into the next show. That’s all of our jobs …to serve the next show coming up,’ ACA executive producer Fiona Dear told TV Tonight.

‘The other thing you have to understand is that promo also serves so many purposes. It’s a timing issue,’ she continued.

‘We are a half hour show and have timing constraints. So there are technical reasons why we have it in there,’ Ms Dear explained.

Tracy has been hosting A Current Affair since 2006 but is currently enjoying a break, with Sylvia Jeffreys as her replacement.

Earlier this month, the pregnant TV star shared a selfie to Instagram, in which she beamed while sitting at the helm of the news program.

The 34-year-old wrote: ‘Starting the working year at the @acurrentaffair9 desk. See you at 7pm.’

The journalist was moved from Nine’s low-rating morning show Today to a prime time slot with A Current Affair in 2019.

Sylvia has reportedly made a big impression with the network’s executives since becoming a reporter for the program.

An insider told Woman’s Day in 2019 that she is being heavily favoured to replace current host, Tracy Grimshaw, 60, when she decides to leave the show.

The news came after Sylvia filled in for a couple of nights for Tracy, when she was absent from the show for two weeks.
