Courteney Cox, 57, wishes Friends co-star Matthew Perry, 52, a happy birthday with sweet throwback

Courteney Cox took to social media to wish her friend, and Friends co-star, Matthew Perry a happy 52nd birthday.

Her post showed the pair, who played a couple on the hit television series for most of its 10-season long run, standing next to one another and smiling.

The actress, 57, referenced their critically-acclaimed television show by writing on her Instagram story, ‘Happy birthday to one of the funniest people “I KNOW”‘ followed by a heart emoji.

I’ll be there for you: Courteney Cox took to social media to wish her friend, and Friends co-star, Matthew Perry a happy birthday 52nd birthday

The Cougar Town actress’ use of the phrase ‘I KNOW’ mirrors her character Monica’s catchphrase during the show’s run.

Earlier in the week, Cox posted a photo laying in front of the iconic fountain from the friends opening while reading a script from Shining Vale, a television series the actress will star in. She captioned it ‘When worlds collide.’

Perry and Cox recently reunited on the set of the Friends reunion alongside their other co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

The Scream actress received an Emmy nomination for her appearance in the special event, her first for her work on Friends. She was the only actor in the show’s main cast not to get an Emmy nod during its original run.

As she told Entertainment Weekly, ‘I’m so happy to be a part of it. I’m so thrilled that I got to do it onstage back at that same studio, the same Stage 24, with those incredible people that I love so much. And I’m so thrilled, but that Emmy [nomination] really belongs to Ben Winston… So yes, I’m so happy.’

Friends isn’t the only old project that the actress is keeping relevant either. Cox is set to appear in the 2022 reboot of Scream, the beloved horror film that she starred in 25 years ago. She will reprise the same role of Gale Weathers.

On top of that, the mother of one will appear in the Last Chance U, a dramatization of the docuseries that bears the same name.

On to other projects: They couldn't do Friends for other, so the pair have move on to other things. Cox will appear in the 2022 reboot of Scream and Perry is set to appear in Adam McKay's Don't Look Up which is set for release later this year

Her co-star Perry has seen more activity in his career recently as well. The 17 Again star has a small role in Don’t Look Up, the upcoming Adam McKay film that will star Hollywood heavyweights like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Jonah Hill.

Neither of the actors are married, though Cox has been in a relationship with singer-songwriter Johnny McDaid since 2013. The pair met through international recording artist Ed Sheeran, a mutual friend.

As Sheeran explained it to the Daily Mail back in 2014, ‘I think I did the “Courtney meet Johnny, Johnny meet Courtney” thing, but Sacha Baron Cohen did the matchmaking. It’s just two people who fell in love and I hope they’re really happy.’

Cox has one child from her previous marriage to actor David Arquette.

On the other hand, Matthew Perry’s dating life has hit a rough patch of late.

The 52-year-old was engaged to Molly Hurwitz, 29, until June of this year, but the two called off their engagement.

When asked about it, the actor said in a statement ‘Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.’

Despite never having publicly dated, a source told US Weekly in 2019 that, ‘Matthew’s always been in love with her.’
