The radio presenter received 37.5 points out of 40, tying with Colin Jackson for the joint highest score of the series so far.

Despite his high score, Sonny admitted it was the most difficult week of the competition for him yet, saying: ‘This was the hardest week for me, spinning a jumping, a nightmare.’

His partner Angela added: ‘He was fantastic, a bit of a cheeky chappy sometimes but always pays off, well done.’

The final five contestants were back in action on Sunday’s episode after the show was forced to take a week off after five stars were forced to pull out of the show amid numerous injuries.
