Dean Wells hits back at ‘jealous’ Married At First Sight stars

Dean Wells has defended his decision to return to Married At First Sight for the show’s upcoming reunion special.

The reality TV villain has been extremely critical of the show’s producers and editing, which has left many questioning his decision to go back on again.

‘Of course I’m gonna go back on this show, who gives a f**k?’ the 42-year-old said.

‘If I get a call up to get paid a decent amount of money to go and have a bit of fun and d**k around on TV for a couple of nights, of course I’m gonna do that,’ he continued.

‘A couple of people like Tash [Spencer] from the last season of MAFS and a few other people had an issue with all of us going back on the show.

‘Dude, relax, you would’ve done it if you’d got approached. You’re just jealous you didn’t get approached.’

He also said he’d ‘moved on’ from his bad experience in season five and knew that the show is now just ‘a bit of fun for the cameras’.

Natasha Spencer slammed several stars from MAFS for participating in the show’s upcoming reunion special in an interview last month.

Natasha, who appeared on season seven earlier this year, said it was hypocritical for the likes of Ines Basic to publicly slam the series only to then return for another round.

‘It’s quite strange to see people back, like Ines in particular,’ she told the Reality TV & Me podcast.

‘Even though she was a villain she got really sick after the show and her mental health deteriorated and it surprised me that she’d go back and rebrand herself with MAFS,’ she continued.

‘I just think they’ve done it to create drama. It’s great for viewing but it really surprises me that people would be silly enough to go back and associate themselves with a brand that has done nothing but bring damage to people’s mental health.

‘Everyone slammed MAFS but here they are going back for round two.’

The 27-year-old also commended Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson for not returning to the series, despite being offered a huge pay day.

This isn’t the first time that Natasha has slammed former Married At First Sight stars for returning to the show.

‘A MAFS reunion with people from all different seasons. Actually pathetic,’ she wrote on Instagram last week.

‘Hyped up drama from a lot of people who say they want their image separate from MAFS now they’ve “moved on”.’

She continued: ‘I genuinely couldn’t think of a more disingenuous thing to take part in.’

The TV special, which will air ahead of the 2021 MAFS series, will feature a mixture of successful couples and unlucky-in-love brides and grooms from seasons five and six.

Several of the returning stars have slammed the series for editing them out of context or affecting their mental health, including Dean Wells, Nasser Sultan and Tracey Jewel.

Back in April, Ines claimed that the show left her ‘suicidal’ and gave her PTSD by triggering her childhood trauma.

‘During filming my mental health was deteriorating,’ she told Hit Mid North Coast’s Krysti & Bodge at the time.

‘I was texting producers being like, “I’m not well, I want to be hospitalised”. I honestly was suicidal.

‘I remember texting my producer and saying, “I honestly want to take my own life”, which is so sad.’

Ines added that during filming she suffered bad bouts of psoriasis because she was so stressed.

The reunion is already set to have insane drama that will match the chaos of season six.

‘Cyclone’ Cyrell Paule and Jessika Power got into a physical altercation during filming that resulted in wine being thrown.

The special will be shown across two consecutive Sunday nights in just five weeks – with the first episode shown on January 31 and the second on February 7.
