Delta Goodrem ‘burst into tears’ after scoring her FIFTH number one album with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams

Delta Goodrem says she wept when she found out her latest album, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, had reached number one on the ARIA charts.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the singer 36, said when she got the news, ‘I burst into tears, happy tears.’

She added: ‘You are not the new artist, you have been around a while but to have this record being recognised and to be a musician and an artist and then people connecting to the work, is just awesome.

‘It gets better and better. I am so overwhelmed with emotion.’

It comes after Delta admitted she hasn’t given up her Hollywood acting dreams. 

Delta joined the cast of Neighbours in 2002 and later prioritised her music career, but still may give acting a crack. 

She added: 'You are not the new artist, you have been around a while but to have this record being recognised and to be a musician and an artist and then people connecting to the work, is just awesome'

‘I’ve been so thankful acting is a part of what I do,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

The Innocent Eyes singer added: ‘From when I was seven years old in A Country Practice to my days on Neighbours and all of the different shows through the years, it’s definitely a part of what I do.’ 

‘I think I’m always incredibly open to finding those awesome [roles], and the right stories to be a part of, for sure,’ she added.  

Delta signed with top acting agent Mark Morrissey in January.

Mr Morrissey, who also represents Chris and Liam Hemsworth, is supporting Delta as she seeks out acting roles in Australia.

While she remained coy about her upcoming roles, the Born to Try hitmaker teased: ‘There’s some fun projects to share with everyone soon.’

Delta starred in the Olivia Newton-John biopic Hopelessly Devoted to You in 2018, which aired on Seven in Australia and on the Lifetime Movie Network in the U.S.
