The 80-year-old was perplexed when one of her 387.8K followers asked her on Twitter: ‘queen are you a barb?’

‘I keep seeing this. What does this mean?’ she asked of the affectionate term for Nicki fans, later following it up with another tweet: ‘Nicki Minaj has a wonderful career. Yes.’

She later updated her profile photo with one in which a fan photoshopped Nicki’s signature pink bob on her head.

Warwick referenced a headline that said ‘Nicki Minaj Fans Push Dionne Warwick To Admit She’s A Barb’ when she retweeted the fan-made art, writing: ‘New photo. Since I was pushed.’

‘I hope @NICKIMINAJ likes my hair. It is very different now,’ she wrote in another tweet, as the Pink Friday artist, 38, responded simply: ‘Legend.’

The That’s What Friends Are For artist retweeted the compliment, which she returned: ‘And back at you.’

‘Time to log off! I will come back if Nicki sees my hair. Maybe I will try a new look tomorrow. Any suggestions?’ she posed to her fans, before posting a Nicki GIF with: ‘Ok… Bye!’
