Drake had scored two Grammy nods this year but sources said his team inexplicably made a last minute decision to remove him as a contender when ballots were released.
Some fans were surprised that the superstar had submitted his name in the first place after he was publicly critical of the Grammy Awards last year for overlooking fellow Canadian musician, The Weeknd.

Drake and his management team reportedly came to the decision together to pull his name from the collection of nominees this year, according to Variety, but insiders were unable to explain his reasoning.
The singer’s latest album, Certified Lover Boy, was nominated in the Best Rap Album category and his collab with Future and Young Thug, Way 2 Sexy, got some love in the Best Rap Performance category.
As of Monday, when the official 2021 Grammy ballots were released, Drake’s name was still listed among the nominees but it is believed that his name will be removed and the list will be updated.
