Donatella Versace made Liz Hurley famous with her iconic safety-pin dress 25 years ago. Now her latest muse, Dua Lipa, is winning fans among a new generation in similar style.
Three weeks ago, the pop star, 26, graced the catwalk for Donatella’s Milan Fashion Week show in a black long-sleeved dress with gold safety-pin detailing.
On Friday night she stepped out for a London party in another safety-pin outfit designed by the Italian fashion guru, matching a daring glittery purple pinned miniskirt with a shimmering green sleeveless top and yellow safety-pin earrings.

The singer completed her stunning ensemble for the star-studded event with a chunky gold neck chain and green satin ankle-strap heels.
Donatella, 66, turned out in a silver dress and black knee-high boots.
Also there was Kylie Minogue and her boyfriend Paul Solomons – stepping out days after the singer announced she was moving back to Australia after 30 years in the UK.
The party was held to celebrate London’s creative community and also attracted model Iris Law, daughter of Sadie Frost and Jude Law, as well as singer-songwriter Pixie Lott.

Dua Lipa’s appearance with Donatella comes after Versace made her the face of their current collection, which is estimated to have earned the young singer £1 million.
And she has proved her worth to the world-famous Italian fashion house by showing off numerous articles of Versace clothing in posts to her 73.6 million Instagram followers.
One fashion source said: ‘Dua Lipa is one of the most sought-after young things around. She is a brand in her own right. She is making an absolute fortune.’
Last month she proudly posed next to a billboard of herself dressed in the label with the caption: ‘I like big billboards and I cannot lie.’
She also shared a video of herself making an advertisement for Versace accessories, including the brand’s La Medusa handbag in vibrant red which is priced at £1,830.
