Erin Molan admits that her new 2Day FM show will be ‘smashed’ in the ratings

Erin Molan admits that her new 2Day FM breakfast show will be ‘smashed’ in the radio ratings… and says she was warned not to look at the numbers

Erin Molan makes up one third of 2Day FM’s latest breakfast show, The 2Day FM Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin.

And despite disastrous ratings for the show, Erin insists that she’s confident that things will eventually turn around.

‘We are not worried on any level at all,’ the 38-year-old told the Daily Telegraph.

‘The numbers aren’t there at the moment’: Erin Molan has acknowledged the poor ratings for her new radio show, The 2Day FM Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin

‘We will get smashed for the next few surveys, we have no doubts whatsoever about that but this is the long haul,’ she continued.

‘This is going to take a long time. While the numbers aren’t there at the moment, absolutely, we are really confident they will be.’

Erin also revealed that she was warned not to even look at the ratings for the first 18 months.

It was announced in November that Ed Kavalee and Dave Hughes would be moving from their afternoon drive-time slot on 2Day FM to host the breakfast show.

'We will get smashed for the next few surveys, we have no doubts whatsoever about that but this is the long haul,' she said

Erin was announced as their co-host, after parting ways with Nine Radio.

‘To be trusted with this role is a huge honour, and I can’t wait to embark on this new adventure with two of Australia’s comedy greats,’ she said at the time.

Since its launch six months ago, the breakfast show has continued to plunge in the ratings.

It went from a 4.1 in the first survey, to a 3.8, and most recently, dropped to a 3.3.

Despite the disastrous ratings, Southern Cross Austereo’s Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron recently told news.com.au that he’s not concerned about the numbers.

‘We know it will take persistence and patience to break into the very stable Sydney market that have long term heritage shows,’ he said.

‘The only way to do that is to also create a great show for the long term. We now have that, and are absolutely committed to that.’

He added: ‘It’s always going to be tougher in radio to build a show rather than buy one, but we are here with this team for the long term.’
