Emmy winner Ewan McGregor and four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke began their first film together – Apple Original Films’ Raymond and Ray – at a cemetery in Richmond, VA on Monday.

In the dramedy, the Scotsman and the Texan – both 50 – play half brothers Raymond and Ray, who’ve ‘lived in the shadow of a terrible father.’

‘Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves,’ read the logline – according to Deadline.

‘There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely grave-digging.’

Cannes Un Certain Regard winner Rodrigo García previously directed Ewan as Jesus in his critically-acclaimed 2016 drama, Last Days in the Desert.

And back in the nineties, the Colombian 62-year-old filmmaker was the camera operator for Great Expectations and Reality Bites – both of which starred Ethan.
