Example reveals Ed Sheeran makes friends wear Sons of Anarchy biker jackets when drinking in his pub

Example has revealed that Ed Sheeran encourages his friends to wear Sons of Anarchy biker jackets when they visit the pub on his £3.7m Suffolk estate.

Example, who considers 30-year-old Ed ‘one of his best pals’, explained the Shivers hit-maker is a huge Sons of Anarchy fan and owns original jackets from the show, which follows a violent biker gang in California.

Gushing about Ed’s ‘exceptional’ house, 39-year-old Example – real name Elliot John Gleave – said on a recent podcast according to The Mirror: ‘He’s got 20 Sons of Anarchy jackets. Everyone puts one on, like a clubhouse jacket, before you go in the pub.’

Example also revealed that Ed has hung Lego in the pub – named The Lancaster Lock – in tribute to his 2011 song Lego House.

He then opened up about a time Ed tried to persuade him to take a dip in his sprawling swimming pond, but Example declined as he ‘didn’t want to get hypothermia’.

The rapper explained: ‘It’s a pretty exceptional house. He’s got a big pond, but it’s got a diving board into it and stairs.

‘He tried to make me go in it and I was like, ”Mate, I’m probably gonna get hypothermia”. It’s like a natural swimming pool.’

Of their friendship, Example added: ‘He’s one of my best pals, even though I only see him now once a year.

‘It’s one of those friendships where even if you don’t chat for ages you’re still tight. The fact he still wants to come to my gig, it shows how grounded he is.’

Ed lives on his £3.7million estate, dubbed ‘Sheeranville’, with wife Cherry Seaborn, 29, and their daughter Lyra, 13 months.

The star’s mammoth estate also includes a tree house, underground music room and a cinema room with a 35ft by 20ft screen.

The star has been building and adding onto his estate for the past five years and last year was said to have planted ‘dozens’ of trees to make his estate more sustainable.

Sheeranville is not without controversy with Ed clashing with his neighbours in the past.

The star has been involved in several legal disputes over his rights and his neighbours’ rights to expand their respective landmasses.

Last year Ed’s neighbour, Anthony Robinson, won a battle against the superstar who rejected Mr Robinson’s plans to extend his back garden.

Mr Robinson, who lives three houses along from the pop star’s estate, was given permission to make his back garden 160 feet bigger despite Ed’s objections.

Mr Robinson already owned the field behind his four bedroom home – which is worth £550,000 – and wanted to incorporate some of it into his private garden.

But Ed, who had undertaken his own vast building project just a few hundred feet away, did not want the space to be domesticated.

He claimed it would ‘extend the village into the countryside in an unplanned and artificial way’.

Although the council objected to Mr Robinson’s proposal initially many neighbours wrote in to support him and his plans were eventually approved.
