On Friday, Stan announced Zac will be starring the new film alongside Australian actors Anthony Hayes and Susie Porter.
According to a report by Inside Film, Zac has taken over from Sam Worthington, who was originally slated to star in the movie.
In addition to starring, Anthony co-wrote the film and will also direct, and told Inside Film he was thrilled to have Zac sign on.
‘To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift, and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we’ve seen from him before,’ he said.
The movie will be filmed in South Australia, and is scheduled to screen in cinemas before streaming on Stan sometime next year.
