More luck in reality than on reality television: She may not have won The Bachelor, but Sydney Lotuaco found love all the same

The first photo showed Lotuaco laughing hard in a white sweater while her beau is down on one knee.

In the second, the happy couple locked lips while sitting next to one another on a small set of stairs. The last picture showed off the impressive diamond ring Wehby purchased for his future wife.

Lotuaco captioned the photos, ‘One and DONE! I love you forever @njw_0401.’

Later on, the star talked to People about her relationship’s past and its future.

The happy couple met in August of last year, and, even though they hadn’t met yet, Wehby already knew quite a bit about Lotuaco.

‘Nick had watched me on The Bachelor and for whatever reason took a liking to me,’ she told the publication. ‘We [started] talking back and forth via Instagram, then texting, and eventually FaceTimed for 3 months before ever meeting in person.’

Shortly after they met, the two decided to move in together on what Lotuaco called a ‘whim.’

As for the actual engagement, Wehby got his family involved to help out. He tricked Lotuaco by telling her they were just taking regular holiday photos. The photographer then encouraged the pair to read letters to one another during the shoot for the photos.

A crafty plan: In order to surprise Sydney, Nick had to lie about the nature of the photo shoot, claiming it was just for regular holiday pics rather than their engagement pictures

As she explained it, ‘When Nick and I first started dating we were long distance and shared a journal that we’d write love notes to each other in when we were apart. Nick wanted to incorporate the journal somehow so Kate had the idea of having us write each other letters to read during the shoot.’

The two switched letters and started to read, and Sydney said she knew what was happening about halfway through when his parents walked up a nearby staircase with hers on FaceTime.

‘I said “Yes” without any questions and am so excited to get to spend forever with him,’ she said. ‘I always knew I would be one and done and was waiting for the right person. Nick was my first and only boyfriend and is now my fiancé and will eventually be my husband. He was very much worth the wait!’

They don’t currently have any wedding plans and, for now, Lotuaco said the two are ‘just soaking in this moment!’
