Former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns says he’ll NEVER perform live again

Former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns says he’ll NEVER perform live again as he reveals he hates being the centre of attention during a candid interview on The Project

He was Silverchair’s magnetic frontman, but Daniel Johns revealed he has no plans to perform live ever again during a candid interview on The Project on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old singer explained that while he hasn’t lost any of his passion for music, he doesn’t enjoy performing live.

‘I don’t even go to live shows because I hate that environment. So why would I want to be the focus?’ he added.

Daniel insisted that he doesn’t think he will perform live again, but revealed he still plans on releasing new music.

‘There’s so much music coming and I’m really, really proud of it. You don’t need to see it live. Just listen. You know, just listen,’ he added.

After being thrust into the limelight with Silverchair at just 15, Daniel confessed he struggled with fame and had a ‘flight or die’ reaction.

‘No one’s designed to be able to adapt to that situation we were in. We went from a really, really quaint town, and all we did was kind of surf and write music,’ he explained.

‘All of a sudden we were playing Madison Square Garden, supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers.’

On Wednesday, Daniel confirmed Silverchair would never reform with him as frontman in a new podcast titled Who is Daniel Johns?

The Straight Lines singer said he had even gotten rid of all of his memorabilia, awards and mementos from his time with the band.

‘It’s not that I am not proud of it, but for some reason I don’t want it around,’ he explained.

He then bluntly added: ‘I wouldn’t even get Silverchair back together for a million dollars with a gun to my head.’
