Former Sri Lankan cricket captain Tillakaratne Dilshan sells his modern apartment in Melbourne – as he settles into a new home with his family

Former Sri Lankan cricket captain Tillakaratne Dilshan has sold his apartment in Melbourne.

The 44-year-old sports star managed to secure a buyer for the property, located in Prahran – an inner suburb located just five kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.

The modern apartment was sold at auction earlier this month but the price hasn’t been disclosed.

The property features a lower level with entrance hallway leading to two spacious bedrooms with built-in-robes.

It also has an open plan lounge and dining area as well as a master bedroom which features a wrap around terrace.

The apartment has a modern kitchen and comes with under cover basement parking with two spaces.

The sale comes as Tillakaratne settles into his new home in Melbourne’s Beaconsfield with his wife Manjula Thilini and their four children.

‘The property has a beautiful view on top of a hill. It’s got a pool, four bedrooms. It’s a residential area but there’s huge houses and a spacious backyard,’he told The Herald Sun.

‘We’ve lived there for the past year and plan to stay while the kids are at school.’

He also owns a villa in Colombo, Sri Lanka called D Pavilion.

Tillakaratne was appointed as captain of Sri Lanka’s cricket team in 2011, after Kumar Sangakkara stepped down.

He was Sri Lanka’s top scorer in the 2016 World Twenty20 in India.
