Gary Busey, 76, makes a rare sighting in Hollywood with his hypnotist wife Steffanie, 46

Gary Busey looked healthy as he attended a show at the Comedy Chateau in North Hollywood on Wednesday night.

The 76-year-old Silver Bullet star was accompanied by his wife, Steffanie, 46, on the outing.

The acting veteran posed for photos backstage, casually attired in a gray and beige baseball cap with a charcoal sweater.

The Barbarosa actor added a Western-inspired black braided rope bolo tie necklace with a large turquoise pendant.

Gary also donned a black leather jacket, black pants and a long tartan-patterned gray, white and maroon scarf.

Steffanie was wearing a short black button-down long-sleeved dress and accessorized with simple black jewelry.

Gary appeared in two solo shots and a group picture with Steffanie, comedian and the owner of Chateau Comedy, Felix McNulty and model Christine Lee, 24.

Busey and Steffanie, nee Sampson, have been together since 2006 and share a son, Luke, 11. He also has two children from previous relationships, Jake, 49 and daughter, Alectra, 27.

Steffanie is an actress, stand up comedienne and master hypnotist. She won the Friar’s Club So You Think You Can Roast competition in 2017.

The actor – who has appeared in movies including Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Point Break – signed up to take part in season 21 of the Dancing With The Stars in 2015.

Gary joked at the time that he had signed up because: ‘I didn’t have anything else to do.’

He was ninth contestant to be announced; joining Bindi Irwin, Victor Espinoza, Hayes Grier, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega, Chaka Khan, Andy Grammer and Nick Carter on the ABC show.

Gary is no stranger to reality TV shows, having appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother.

His partner was professional dancer Anna Trebunskaya, 40. Busey and Trebunskaya made it to Week 4 of competition before they were eliminated. Ultimately, they finished in 10th place.

Busey made his major film debut in 1974 with a supporting role in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot alongside Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.

Just four years later he would see his career skyrocket following the success of his role as rock legend Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story (1978).

His Hollywood resume includes such films as A Star Is Born (1976), Carny (1980), Barbarosa (1982), Lethal Weapon (1987), Predator 2 (1990), Point Break (1991), The Firm (1993), Lost Highway (1997) and Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (1998).

Busey’s sometimes erratic behavior can be attributed, in part, to the 1988 motorcycle accident that resulted in a major brain injury, which changed his personality radically and made it difficult for him to learn lines.

One of the major changes from the injury was the loss of inhibition, leaving him with almost no ability to censor himself.

In 2019, his son Jake told The Hollywood Reporter, ‘The post-accident version of him turned his personality up to 11.’

‘I feel like I lost my dad on December 4, 1988,’ the Stranger Things star explained.

Jake went on to say if it was not for Steffanie, ‘He’d be in an old folks home.’

‘The fact that there’s an entire generation of people who don’t know the man he was before the accident… it’s just hard,’ he said.
