They shared a decisive Oscar victory as producers on the 2012 Best Picture winner Argo.
Also seen shooting the drama were costars Lily Rabe, and Tye Sheridan.
Lights, camera, action: George Clooney was seen on set directing his star actor Ben Affleck on the Boston, Massachusetts set of new film The Tender Bar on Tuesday
Clooney, who turns 60 this May, kept warm in a black puffer jacket, while holding on to another layer.
He also wore bluejeans and white Nike trainers.
Affleck, 48, looked to be in costume in a green jacket with black collar, worn over a plaid flannel shirt and white tee.
He and Sheridan, 24, stood near a film camera, smiling and watching on as the scene unfolded.
Next to the camera: Also seen shooting the drama was costar Tye Sheridan, in brown standing next to Affleck in green
Sheridan, who played a young Scott Summers/Cyclops in the last two X-Men film installments, was dressed similarly to Ben, and both actors had their hair slightly feathered, suggesting that the film is a period piece.
The pair, along with director Clooney, all wore face coverings in accordance with strict rules concerning the coronavirus pandemic on all major film and television productions.
Rabe, 38, also looked to be in a slightly 80s getup, in a long tan coat with her hair up in a half ponytail.

The Tender Bar is based on the acclaimed 2005 memoir by author J. R. Moehringer.
The story follows a young boy in Long Island who seeks out father figures among the patrons at his uncle’s bar.
Sheridan will play the lead, while Good Will Hunting star Affleck will portray his uncle Charlie.
Victorious: Clooney and Affleck shared a decisive Oscar victory as producers on the 2012 Best Picture winner Argo, which Ben also directed and starred in
Clooney and Affleck are both two-time Academy Award winners, with George previously winning the Best Supporting Actor trophy for 2005’s Syriana.
Ben, along with his friend and costar Matt Damon, famously clinched the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Good Will Hunting in 1998.
And while Clooney is a somewhat experienced actor-turned-director, first helming Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, Affleck has also had a hand at directing – including the Oscar-winning film the pair produced together, Argo.
