Grant Denyer reveals he ‘lost seven kilos off his tiny frame’ while ‘starving’ on I’m a Celebrity

Grant Denyer has revealed that he initially thought his time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia would be easy.

Instead, the 43-year-old found himself ‘starving’ and rapidly losing weight while in the jungle – but he was pleased, having gained weight while in lockdown last year.

‘I’ve lost seven kilos off my tiny frame. That’s probably the only benefit to going in there,’ he told TV Week on Monday.

The TV show host thought there would be some television trickery at work to make things look harder than they were – but he was wrong.

‘I thought most of it was just made for television. As it turns out, it’s not,’ the former Family Feud host told the publication.

‘You’re starving, you’re exhausted, you’re being punished every single day with some ridiculous challenge to frighten the life out of you, and you’ve just got nothing left in the tank to fight back,’ he added.

The star has been very candid while appearing on the program, earlier admitting he has a problem with alcohol.

Grant, who has also battled an addiction to painkillers in the past, admitted to drinking in excess to cope with his anxiety on an episode of the show last week.

‘I’d never put two and two together, and I’ve been asking myself this question for five years, “Do I have a problem?” And I think the answer is, “I do,”‘ he said.

‘And it was coming in here, watching how I couldn’t control the pace at which I was drinking, because I do everything fast,’ he said.

‘I was trying to stem the fear and anxiety of what we were about to do and I thought, “I think I do that every week.”‘

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel 10
