Hank William Jr’s son says he wants out of conservatorship he was allegedly placed in by his father
Country star Hank Williams Jr’s son claims his father and half-sister placed him in a conservatorship 18 months ago and now he wants out.
Sam Williams, 24, held up a series of handwritten signs in a YouTube video saying he was placed in the conservatorship by his father and half-sister Holly a couple months after the death of his 27-year-old sister Katie, who was killed in a car crash.
‘I want out,’ a sign from the silent clip read.
‘I’ve been quiet a long time now. I want out of this, and I don’t mind people knowing,’ the video caption read.
‘They took my grief process, my spirit, my money, my car, my home, and everything possible in order to “protect me.” Well, I need protection from them.’
He added: ‘I have worked my broken heart to quits since my dear Katie left for Home. I do not deserve this. This is a scary step but I don’t see what else to do here.
‘I am ashamed of my family and embarrassed. I am beyond done. I have my spirit back. Get. Me. Out. Please.’
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, his father filed a petition for the emergency conservatorship for him in August 2020.
The YouTube clip has since been taken down.

Sam Williams had also repeated the statement on Twitter, writing: ‘I am in a conservatorship.’
His sister Katie was involved in a car accident with her husband Tyler Dunning in Tennessee in June 2020. Dunning was airlifted to a nearby hospital and survived.
Katie’s death had heavily impacted Sam who had difficulty working on his first album Glasshouse Children which featured a collaboration with other artists including Dolly Parton and Keith Urban.
‘I definitely broke and went through a really, really, really hard time. I’m still climbing out of it,’ he told PEOPLE.
‘But, it’s the ‘still climbing’ part that is the most important. That’ll just always be a big part of my story.’
Sam’s half-sister Holly was also said to have allegedly placed him in the conservatorship

The news comes after singer Britney Spears was released from her own last year.
Spears had given her father Jamie control over her estate and medical decisions following her public mental breakdown in 2008.
Sam said he had difficulty on working on his debut album Glasshouse Children due to his sister’s death
On November 12, Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Jamie would no longer have control over his daughter as a conservator after 13 years.
A month later, the conservatorship was officially terminated after the judge ruled that Spears did not need a further mental evaluation.
Williams had responded to a tweet from a fan who celebrated Spears’ first February of freedom.
‘It’s my second one not free,’ he tweeted in response.
