Holly Willoughby accidentally promises competition winner £100k instead of £1k

Holly Willoughby accidentally promised whoever wins This Morning’s Dosh On Your Doorstep competition on Wednesday that they’d be receiving a whopping £100k prize instead of the actual £1k jackpot.

A mere two minutes into the show, Holly – who presents the morning series alongside Phillip Schofield –  said: ‘Alison Hammond is giving another lucky view the chance to win £100k…’

She then quickly corrected her error, saying: ‘No she’s not! £1k! Just £1k. What I said, minus £99k. And you’re left with the correct amount. It’s just £1k, which is a lot of money…’

The show then cut to Alison whose job is to surprise an unsuspecting viewer of the show with a ring on the doorbell to award them the cash prize.

Only a shot of a brick wall was shared, so that viewers were unable to tell where the competition was taking place.

But the cameraman panned away from Alison at one point, showing the entire street beyond.

‘How have the wheels come off the show at two minutes in?’ Holly asked her co-host, who put his head in his hands.

Things got worse when Alison declared she needed a button resewn onto her cardigan and a random resident from the street rushed into shot to help her with it.

Neither of them was wearing a face mask and they broke social distancing, which is still being adhered to as much as possible at ITV, adding to the gaffe.

Holly couldn’t contain her delight as she made her grand return to This Morning following her summer break on Mondday.

The 40-year-old broadcaster wore a pretty pink dress for the return after enjoying a eight week break, and proceeded to launch into a tap dance routine with her co-host Phil.

Holly and Phillip began the show standing outside Television Centre to introduce the cast of Anything Goes, who were performing on the show – which spurred Holly to join in with the energetic dance routine.
