Holly Willoughby hilariously gifts Gino D-Acampo a festive ‘willy warmer’

Holly Willoughby had fans in stitches while hosting the first ever Christmas Day episode of This Morning alongside her co-host Phillip Schofield.

The presenter, 39, gave Gino D’Acampo an unexpected present on the morning chat show as she hilariously handed him a knitted Christmas tree ‘willy warmer’.

The Italian chef, 44, was flattered when he was handed the gift but was left completely surprised when he realised it was a rather rude item.

The amusing moment came as Holly told her co-presenter that she and the team got him a ‘little something’ during the pre-recorded festive show.

She said: ‘Listen we got you a little something, as it’s Christmas. In honour of that knitwear, I have got you a little gift here, for you to open. Can you guess what it is?’

Gino paused as he inspected the suggestive shape of the parcel, before quipping: ‘Let me guess, a bottle opener?’

After finally managing to unwrap the present, Gino was in hysterics as he revealed it was a festive ‘willy warmer’ to match his jumper, which featured a topless male torso.

Between giggles, he excitedly said: ‘I can see two balls. Oh wow! It is a willy warmer! This is cute, this is very good.’

Gino also got into the Christmas spirit drinking negroni cocktails with Phillip, 58, and Holly, before serving up a Christmas starter of smoked salmon with avocado tartare.

The Christmas episode of This Morning was jam-packed with cheerful moments as Holly also revealed that she is feeling broody for her fourth baby.

The TV star, who shares her three children with husband Dan Baldwin, gushed over This Morning alum Rochelle Humes’ newborn son Blake during the show.

Holly and Phillip have pre-recorded the episode for the first time, as they kept viewers entertained during Christmas morning.

During the episode, the presenting duo spoke to Rochelle, 31, and Holly asked how Blake’s big sisters have been.

She replied: ‘They are brilliant. They are constantly all over him and fighting about who’s going to hold him and who’s passing me the baby wipes… but it’s really nice, and I think because he’s a boy there’s no competition, they are just trying to be mini mummies!’

And watching Rochelle hold up baby Blake to say goodbye at the end of the chat, Holly gushed: ‘Oh I want one of those…’

While Phillip said, ‘No, you don’t!’ To which Holly replied, ‘I do!’ Phillip responded, ‘No you don’t, you’ve got enough!’ But Holly insisted, ‘OK… but I do!’

Holly is already a doting mother to her children Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and Chester, six.

The show started with the excitable hosts wishing viewers Merry Christmas with Holly adding: ‘It’s today! We are very excited to be celebrating with you this morning… and this is the first time ever, the first This Morning Christmas.’

Sat amongst the festively decorated set and snowy window scene, Phillip said: ‘Why did we only just think of this? Loving this!’ before explaining, ‘We have all sorts of things planned… but surely it is time for a pre-lunch tipple?’

And just like a Christmas miracle, Alison Hammond appeared riding a mulled wine cart into the studio, almost crashing into the table!

Once the duo has sipped on their hot mulled wine, they went on to speak with none other than Father Christmas live from the North Pole after his busy night.

They then gave expats living in Australia a touching chance to send messages to their loved ones back home.

Phillip and Holly also arranged for special Christmas surprises, first for eight-year-old Evie who was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder.

Phillip said: ‘After months of gruelling treatment and countless hospital stays we thought Evie deserved a special treat this Christmas.’

Viewers witnessed emotional scenes as Evie’s home is transformed into a snowy grotto and she spoke with her favourite singer Olly Murs and received an iPad gift from the show.

Then ten-year-old Maizie, who became a carer for her younger brother and her mum when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, also received a special surprise.

During a trip to Lapland UK, the huge dance fan was surprised by Anton Du Beke who invited her to perform with him on his dance show next year.

Back in the studio, Phillip, Holly, Alison and Josie Gibson relived fond memories during the year whilst opening some presents from each other… with Phillip and Holly so touched by their gifts that they became a little teary.

Guests on the show included Davina McCall, talking about The Masked Singer returning on Boxing Day, and Dick and Angel Strawbridge discussing their Christmas show Escape to the Chateaux at Christmas.

Phillip and Holly also competed in a festive version of ‘Guess The Gadget’ with Steve Wilson – who also received a gift – as do other members of the This Morning family including Alice Beer, Dr Chris Steele MBE, Deidre Sanders and Gino D’Acampo.

The pair then went outside for a performance of ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ by 80s legend Tony Hadley.

The singer explained how since lockdown he’s been ‘effectively unemployed’, saying: ‘I’ve done a lot of gardening and hoovering – I’m the master of the hoover – but it’s good to be here today!’

Before the end of the show, Phillip said: ‘Well that’s nearly it from us today, but before we go we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for allowing us to keep you company through one of the strangest and toughest years many of us have ever known.’

Holly added: ‘We hope that we’ve managed to raise a few smiles, have a few laughs and most importantly been there to give you a virtual hug when you’ve needed it most.’

And Phillip went on to say: ‘But we couldn’t have done it alone…’

Before Holly said: ‘Nope. We always talk about the This Morning family, and that family extends far beyond the camera, and every day the most dedicated team work so hard to help us bring you the show that we love doing so much.’

Phillip concluded: ‘So we thought it was time you met them!

‘So as you get ready to tuck into your turkey, and hopefully think forward to a nice positive 2021, all that remains for us to do is wish you a very happy and healthy Christmas from our family to yours.’
