Honey Boo Boo goes glam! The TV star poses for Teen Vogue

Honey Boo Boo has swapped her ‘country bumpkin’ wardrobe for a high fashion makeover in a surprise new photoshoot for the October issue of Teen Vogue.

The TV star, whose real name is Alana Thompson, shot to fame at age six on the TLC show Toddlers and Tiaras and later landed her own reality show with her Georgia-based family, which includes mother Mama June and sister Pumpkin.

But now, ahead of her 16th birthday this weekend, she declares she is ready to emerge as a grown up in her own right – and a glam one at that.

‘I guess people still expect me to be little Honey Boo Boo and I’m not anymore. Just because I’m from the south, people expect me to be all country bumpkin, out riding four wheelers all the time, but that’s not really how it is,’ she told the magazine.

A new look: Honey Boo Boo has always gone for a casual as she films her various reality TV shows in Georgia. But for the October issue of Teen Vogue, the star was glammed up in designer clothing ahead of her 16th birthday this weekend

Not all country: 'I guess people still expect me to be little Honey Boo Boo and I'm not anymore. Just because I'm from the south, people expect me to be all country bumpkin, out riding four wheelers all the time, but that's not really how it is,' said the TV veteran who found fame at age six with the series Toddlers & Tiaras

She then added, ‘But I do not care. As long as I like myself, I’m good.’

Honey Boo Boo was beautifully styled in Azeeza and Kelsey Randall while modeling Tiffany & Co jewelry.

And she had a proper glam team: Ansley Morgan did the styling, Danielle Mitchell was on her makeup, and Erin Taylor fixed her hair. The photographer was Peyton Fulford.

Her hair was worn down and her nails were pointy and long like a Kardashian.

Thompson talked to Teen Vogue writer Rainesford Stauffer about how she is saving up to buy a car and wants to be a nurse one day.

‘It’s very, very hard. It’s something I’d wish on nobody, for real.’

She continued: ‘When my mama got real bad with her [drug use], I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come.’

But it’s not easy being the only famous kid at school.

‘To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all,’ Alana said.

She added her only friend is her boyfriend. ‘Because I feel like folks are so much like, oh my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo. I don’t trust nobody really, so I don’t have friends.’

The TV vet also discussed how people react to her body and the body positivity movement.

‘I feel like my generation is probably making it worse,’ the candid teen said.

‘Everybody’s all about body positivity, body positivity, until they see a body they don’t like…I don’t understand why people think this way. Just because I got a little bit of extra meat on my bones, you want to hate me? I’ll never get body shaming.’

Alana came to fame nine years ago on 2012’s Toddlers & Tiaras about children in beauty pageants.

Her outspoken nature and Mountain Dew addiction made her an instant classic.
