House Of Gucci new trailer: Lady Gaga and Adam Driver have a fateful first encounter

The newest teaser for Ridley Scott’s hotly anticipated crime drama House Of Gucci arrived on Wednesday.

The film is based on the true story of Patrizia Reggiani — played by pop icon Lady Gaga — who orchestrated the assassination of her husband, former Gucci fashion brand head Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver.

The new clip focuses on Patrizia and Maurizio’s first encounter at a party as the sparks begin to fly.

Golden years: Lady Gaga and Adam Driver as seen as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci in the early days of their relationship in a new teaser for Ridley Scott’s crime drama House Of Gucci

‘I’m Patrizia,’ Gaga says in the opening seconds over footage of her twirling about on a dance floor in the early 1970s while wearing a crimson satin dress.

Maurizio, who appears to be hosting the party, steps behind a bar to make her a drink before kissing her gloved hand as he introduces himself.

Their romance seems to take off, and suddenly he’s introducing her to his family and the Gucci fashion empire.

Members of the family are seen rising around a long dining table outdoors to give a toast to Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino), the son of Guccio Gucci and the father to Paolo Gucci (an unrecognizable Jared Leto).

Maurizio is seen introducing Patrizia to a life of luxury as they go skiing in matching white snow suits.

‘We are a family business,’ Driver says in voiceover, affecting an Italian accent. ‘Gucci — it is an empire.’

Jeremy Irons, who plays Rodolfo Gucci, is only seen in a brief image as he smokes a cigarette and drinks while a film projector spins behind him, but Gaga adds in voiceover.

Pacino’s role as Aldo is minimal in the trailer, but he is shown putting on a classic pair of reflective aviator sunglasses, while Gaga adds in voiceover that the House of Gucci represents ‘style’ and ‘power.’

Maurizio seems to warn her about the never-ending desire for more that could be set off by the luxuries his family offers.

Unlike the first trailer, the teaser underplays Patrizia’s hired murder of Maurizio, in favor of focusing on their relationship and the grandeur of the Gucci family.

During her murder trial, which transfixed Italy, Reggiani arrived each day wearing head-to-toe Gucci clothes and accessories.

The court heard how she had ordered the murder of her husband after he offered her $650,000 in a divorce settlement.

She was initially sentenced to 29 years in 1998, which was reduced to 26 on appeal. She served 18 – with her pet ferret Bambi as a companion for some of the time – before being released in October 2014.

Well-known for her luxury lifestyle, Reggiani once said: ‘I’d rather cry in a Rolls than be happy on a bicycle’ and turned down the offer of day release while in prison because it would have meant doing ‘menial’ work.
