Iggy Azalea launches her debut perfume Devil’s Advocate – as she reveals why the scent is a tribute to Australia

Iggy Azalea once claimed she felt ‘no connection’ to Australia, despite growing up in the New South Wales town of Mullumbimby. 

But the Aussie rapper, 30, has since changed her tune, having revealed this week that her debut fragrance Devil’s Advocate was actually inspired by the land Down Under. 

Speaking to Yahoo following the launch of her perfume on Tuesday, Iggy she was inspired by Australian native flora when concocting the aroma.

‘I really wanted to have Australian sandalwood be the top note that runs throughout the scent,’ the Fancy hitmaker said.

‘I really love that scent. I grew up with it. My mother would always have that in our house.’  

The perfume’s branding was meanwhile inspired by the duality of good and evil, and features the image of a horned, devilish figure embracing a nude female form.

‘It’s meant to be a reflection of that naughty, cheeky, almost the devil on your shoulder or that part of me that says, like, ‘Just do it, just go, just have fun, go out with your friends that night, double text the guy,” she said. 

Devil’s Advocate is the first of several fragrances to be released under Iggy’s brand, Parfum De Azalea,

‘I wanted this perfume to be just that thing that give you that boost of confidence,’ she told the camera while removing the bottle from its packaging.  

‘I love the bottle, it’s super chic. All the other fragrances that I have coming out are going to be in the same shaped bottles. So if you want to collect them and keep them all on your counter top, they’ll all be in the same classic, uniform shape,’ she said.   

Iggy also stars in a raunchy ad campaign for Devil’s Advocate, in which she is seen rolling around in a red-lit room with a shadowy, satanic-looking female dancer.

In the clip, the mother-of-one can be seen wearing a nude bra with matching bottoms as she dances alongside a woman wearing a green special effects suit. 

Devil’s Advocate is currently available for pre-order online, and retails for AUD $74.
